Mayo Clinic Center for Social Media : Role model for legal profession
If you’ve been following Mayo Clinic, you’ve seen their commitment to be the leader in social medicine in medicine.
The latest comes with the announcement of their fourth annual Social Media Summit, a week long program in Rochester, Minn. campus this October.
Mayo Clinic is not placing an emphasis on social media as a gimmick or as an attention grabber. Mayo is doing so because of its dedication to the patient. Mayo sees social media as critical to helping its colleagues promote health, fight disease, and promote healthcare.
Mayo has founded the Mayo Clinic Center for Social Media and developed a world wide Social Media Health Network as part of their efforts.
Mayo doesn’t look as social media as anything new.
The Mayo brothers founded Mayo Clinic over 160 years ago. Knowing Rochester on the plains of Minnesota was off the beaten path, one of the brothers was always on the road nationally and internationally to network. Through networking they could bring back the latest in health care ideas to Rochester and bring doctors from around the world to Rochester to collaborate and learn from each other.
