Meet Tim Driggers, LexBlog's Director of Technology

December 22, 2010

For Tim Driggers, LexBlog’s new Director of Technology, it’s sometimes less about the technology than one might think. Leading a group of experienced developers while also keeping the technological needs of all of LexBlog met, he’s stressed the importance of working as a team.

“For me, it’s about infrastructure and bringing groups of people together to work as teams versus standalone people who are passing projects between each other,” Driggers said. “I’m trying to build collaborative environments where everybody is part of the thought process and there’s no one individual who’s responsible for developing a product. I want to bring everybody in so we get the best ideas out of the entire group.”

With a background that includes providing innovative product solutions with multiple high growth startups, Driggers brings 15 years of experience working in the computer and telecommunication field to LexBlog. He previously served as the Director of Technical Services at Speakeasy, Inc., a broadband and voice provider affiliated with Best Buy.

Like other members of the executive team, Driggers was lured to LexBlog by the potential of the company and the opportunity to work with a team that’s fully embracing technology and guiding others on how to do the same.

“I’ve fought that battle internally at a lot of companies, and this is an opportunity to be outside of that and dealing with the people who want to be part of that bleeding edge of social media and technological understanding,” Driggers said.

Even though Driggers had always been someone at the forefront of technology, it wasn’t until coming to LexBlog that he began blogging. When he started his publication on devops, infrastructure operations and cloud computing in September it was generating 4 or 5 unique visitors each day. Now? 100 times that much.

“If it wasn’t for LexBlog, I probably wouldn’t be doing that at all at all. I’d just be sitting back going ‘Huh, those are interesting articles those guys are writing…’” said Driggers, who was recently invited to present at a conference as a result of the blog.

While the blog has proved to be stirring, it’s what’s ahead for LexBlog that’s the most interesting.

“The way we’re moving forward is really exciting. Over the next three or six months, the products that we’re talking about and the new services were going to have available are just going to be really compelling,” Driggers said. “And the excitement for me is in building those and pushing them out.”
