This is our century

CubsEvery ball team can have a bad century. So what if the Cubs haven’t won a World Series since 1908. This is our century.

God, I wish that were true. My boys keep saying look how good the team is this year. We’re bound to win it all this year. I’ve had to remind them that we Cub fans have been saying that since Teddy Roosevelt was President.

The last time the Cubs won it all was 13 years before the first radio broadcast of a baseball game in 1921. And 21 years before the first telecast in 1939.

Everyone thought the Red Sox broke the longest curse in baseball when they won the World Series in 2004 for the first time since 1918. Hell, we had them by 10 years.

But like my boys, I’m an optimist. I’ve already started watching my travel schedule for the end of October. Don’t want to miss any of the Cubs in the World Series. ;)
