New legal resource for bloggers and citizen journalists
The Citizen Media Law Project at Harvard’s Berkman Center for Internet and Society has picked up a grant from Knight News Challenge to develop and online resource on legal issues related to the practice of journalism.
David Adia, Director for the Citizen Media Law Project, told Daniel Schultz, my source for this post, the resource will be a “…community of journalists, lawyers, academics, and others who are interested — and proactively engaged — in issues relating to journalism, new media, and law on the Internet.”
Interesting that the resource will not only cover the legal rights and liabilities of citizen journalists. It’ll provide information on business formations, insurance, and other items for journalists starting their own enterprise. With the mass media offering less secure jobs and the net offering opportunities for the entrepreneur, this is a nice addition.
Pick up the full interview between Adia and Schultz, an information systems undergraduate at Carnegie Mellon University, at Poynteronline.
