Law blogs omitted from Webby nominees

April 11, 2007

The Webby Nominees have been announced and no law blogs made the cut.

However, a number of blogs and social media sites are included. Techdirt, an excellent blog with regular posts referencing legal issues in new media & technology made the list of best business blogs.

On the law side, the following made the list as to websites:

  • FindLaw
  • LawHelp.org from Pro Bono Net, a great New York based organization that helps people living on low-incomes and the legal organizations that serve them.
  • Nolo – excellent legal content for small business people and consumers; supplies LexBlog clients with libraries of content for resource centers on blogs.
  • The Hollywood Reporter ESQ. – entertainment and media law site headed by publisher, Norah Weinstein, a former Skadden Arps litigator.
  • Thomas – Library of Congress

Only Hollywood Reporter ESQ. appears to make effective use of RSS feeds, something to be looking for any news and information site.

The Webby Awards is the leading international award honoring excellence on the Internet. Established in 1996. The Webbys are presented by The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, a 550-member body of leading Web experts, business figures, luminaries, visionaries and creative celebrities.
