Two new law blog aggregators

November 23, 2006

Last week brought two legal blog aggregators on back to back days. Justia launched BlawgSearch and Bill Gratsch’s Blawg.org relaunched as Blawg.com.

Expect BlawgSearch to become one part of Justia’s growing legal portal, that’s likely to rival FindLaw in the next year or two. In addition to BlawgSearch there’s already the Justia Legal Web Directory and the Justia Supreme Court Center.

Tim Stanley, who co-founded FindLaw with his wife, Stacey Stern, before selling to Thomson, is as driven as any business person I know. With a new company based in the Silicon Valley, today’s improving technology, and an inspired and innovative team, you’d have to bet on Tim leapfrogging FindLaw at some point.

Bill Gratsch has had his leading law blog directory of blogs for years. It’s now an aggregator of blog feeds with additional features.

Looks clear from the site that Bill has joined forces with another party or two, though it’s not disclosed who. Also cannot tell the long term plans of Blawg.

Bill’s a bright innovative guy employed in large law firm IT. With his vision on blogs and other collaboration tools and now with a tech and/or financial partner, it’s hard to see him staying down on the farm forever.
