Keeping score on referrals?

Tom Kane’s post asking ‘Do you get referrals from those to whom you refer business‘ got me thinking.
My practice is to refer work to those companies who I believe can do the best job for the party. First, it’s the right thing to do. Second, I retain a relationship of trust with my client, prospect or other enquiring party. They wouldn’t have asked you if they did not trust me.
And most importantly, when you do things that help others and help the world, it comes back to you. You just don’t know from whom. On the Internet, it’s as Zig Ziglar says, “You can have everything in life you want, if you will just help other people get what they want.”
