Google PageRank won’t trump low ranking caused by new site domain

November 1, 2005

It’s well known now that a website or blog with a new domain will not achieve good search engine results on Google. It’s called the ‘sandbox’ and can last as long as 6 to 8 months.

The question was recently asked of Jill Whalen at HighRankings whether a high PageRank will trump the ‘sandbox.’ The answer is no.

PR has nothing to do with the aging delay. You could be a PR9 and still be aging.

PR has no significant correlation (I haven’t done the math) with the Google Sandbox.
