Update on Microsoft’s RSS – Longhorn announcement of today
Alex Barnett has a nice summary of the news that followed Microsoft’s announcement at Gnomedex this morning that Microsoft’s new operating platform, Longhorn, will be integrating RSS across the board. Includes pictures of the ‘Longhorn Loves RSS’ t-shirt to boot.
Flattering to see me quoted along side reports from AP, Reuters, ZDNet, InfoWorld and Information Week. That’s a tribute to the power of citizen journalism. Microsoft knew that the power of bloggers reporting on this huge announcement was far greater than a press release and press conferences.
Many of you will remember the 24 hour round the world tour Microsoft did with the Rolling Stones song ‘Start Me Up’ as part of releasing Windows ’95. Well, Longhorn’s adoption of RSS is bigger news than Windows ’95. This time Microsoft just sent it’s troops over Lake Washington to downtown Seattle to have the news spread round the world by electric horseman blogging live from Gnomedex. Very cool.
