Cubs Win! Mariner’s opening day.

April 6, 2004

Cubs win, Astro’s lose. We’re in first place and Cub’s magic number to clinch our division is down to 161 (any combination of Cub’s wins and Astro’s losses). You can taste the fall classic already. Now we just need to make sure Steve Bartman (ball guy) has seats a few rows off the field for the playoffs.

Our family of seven is off to Safeco field in Seattle in a couple hours for opening day. Bleacher Seats – $110; Food & beverage ($8 beers) – $75; M’s convincing fans they are playing to win so as to sell out most every game & make millions of dollars when they will not trade for or sign players needed to make playoffs – priceless.

Actually being with family walking through blocks of hot dog & peanut vendors, watching old time baseball videos on the big screen, seeing grass so green it hurts the eye & jets flying overhead, all along with thousands of ordinary folks taking the day off to watch a game, makes one feel you’re in the “Field of Dreams.”

Sorry for the distraction, baseball is in my blood – especially at this time of year. ;)
