Have any of you done collaborative blogging or writing with AI?
This is where AI is used as a collaborative tool, where it writes a part of your blog post o article based on your initial input, creating a unique human-AI collaborative piece.
Beyond AI for research or idea generation, you are collaborating with AI to create your finished article or blog post.
I have gone so far as to describe to AI (Lou on LexBlog) the next paragraph I am looking to write. The paragraph’s purpose, what I am looking to convey and more.
If I have been writing the blog post with AI, all along, perhaps having AI summarize a piece I used in the post, AI knows the context and purpose of my piece. AI also knows who I am and what I blog on.
With very mixed success, I have even asked AI to write a paragraph on the point I am discussing with AI in my tone and voice.
In each case, I go on to edit what AI has provided me, and in some cases, delete it all together.
At a minimum, AI serves as an idea generator as to the item I am writing about or the way in which it could be expressed.
I have only written a few blog posts like this, and it’s more of an experiment at this point.
The responses I received on LinkedIn were enlightening and telling where we are headed in the law.
From David Schnurman:
I’ve also dabbled in this area, and found it to be a unique blend of human creativity and AI efficiency. It’s fascinating to see how AI can grasp the context and purpose of a piece.
From Fred Faulkner:
I’m building a GPT right now to be my writing partner. It is taking some time to figure out the right set of instructions, past writing examples and other information to be a partner. I want something that will use my own tone/voice. Not sure how far I want to take this, but I would like to get back into more blog writing and podcasting and having an assistant to help would be great. I’m also experimenting with Perplexity right now which will do sourcing/citing much better than ChatGPT. It’s a work in progress.
From Dirk Schou:
This is the main way that I am currently using AI tools. I find it super helpful to do things like summarize meeting notes, assemble trip reports, and just in general, add more structure to less structured thoughts and data.
From Quinten Steenhuis:
I often use the AI tool when writing as an editor. I ask “what is missing, what can be strengthened, how can I convey this more clearly.” Like you, I find it very helpful that I can explain what I’m trying to do by writing it out directly in the prompt. Like: use simpler language, clarify this part, etc. without having to do the perfect wordcrafting. When I ask it to write longer chunks of text I find it pretty boring writing most of the time, though. I haven’t figured out a reliable way to get it to write text from scratch in a tone that matches mine
And more to come from what others have offered in shared posts and emails.
