Think of your favorite superhero or a character from a storybook. Everyone knows them because of the good things they do and the stories they are in. Lawyers write blogs to share their stories and knowledge about laws, so more people can know who they are and how they can help. Just like when people know a superhero is good and brave because of their stories, people learn from the blogs that these lawyers are smart and helpful. This way, when someone needs help with law puzzles, they remember the lawyer who wrote the stories and might ask them for help.
Twenty-five years ago I labeled those lawyers supporting a virtual community of lawyers helping people I was building as “Heroes for Justice.”
The lawyers were doing what other lawyers would not in an effort to help people. They answered questions on message boards and on listervs because the lawyers cared and believed they had something to offer. In the process they built a name and grew their business.
The more things change the more things remain the same. Superheroes it is for lawyers who blog.
Now let’s not start attacking me and telling me you will turn me into the legal authorities for calling lawyers heroes as folks did in the heroes for justice days.
