HeinOnline and the Open Legal Blog Archive Seem a Good Fit
William S. Hein & Co and HeinOnline seem an interesting partner for the Open Legal Blog Archive (Archive).
How so?
I saw on Twitter that the Ross-Blakely Law Library at the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University purchased the HeinOnline resource on Water Law, a hot topic in Arizona.
I had mistakenly thought HeinOnline was an archive of law reviews and journals.
In fact, HeinOnline’s Water Law resource is a comprehensive resource covering state and federal law including:
- Subject coded content
- Books going back to the 1800’s
- Committe prints and congressional hearings
- Legislative histories
- Supreme Court briefs
- Scholarly articles
The Archive is the first and only library of credible legal blogs, worldwide.
With over 600,000 blog posts from over 40,000 authors, the Archive’s content seems to be a good complement to Hein’s legal resources.
As way of background, HeinOnline is a commercial internet database service launched in 2000 by William S. Hein & Co. which has been serving the library community for more than 100 years as a legal publisher, periodical subscription agent, and as the world’s largest distributor of legal periodicals.
The below HeinOnline video outlining HeinOnline’s water rights and resources product is a nice example of the breath of Hein’s and HeinOnline’s offerings.
