Facebook is proof your target audience is headed to mobile

Facebook’s huge mobile growth is what the Wall Street Journal’s Evelyn Rusli (@EvelynRusli), took away from Facebook’s earning’s call of last week.

  • As of late December, 680 million users were actively accessing the social app on smartphones every month, up 57% from a year earlier.
  • For the first time mobile daily active users exceeded web daily active users.
  • Mobile revenue doubled from $153 million in the third quarter to $306 million in the fourth quarter.
  • 23% of revenue now comes from mobile, compared to 14% the prior quarter.

Despite the perception that Facebook was lagging on mobile a year ago, CEO Mark Zuckerberg told the audience on the call “Today there is no argument Facebook is a mobile company.”

Do not dismiss the mobile growth on Facebook as a signal on where your target audience is headed. After all it’s the 45 to 54 year old age group which is the fastest growing on Facebook.
