Twitter rolls out ability to download your Tweets

December 16, 2012

Worry no more about losing a history of what you’ve been reading and sharing. Twitter is keeping CEO Dick Costolo’s promise.

Per The Next Web’s Martin Bryant (@MartinSFP) Twitter has started rolling out the option to download all of your tweets.

An archive link is available on the bottom of your settings for those of you who have received the download feature already. I have not.

You’ll be able to do one download a month. The download will be available in HTML format so that you’ll be able to review your Tweets as if on Twitter.

I expect developers to look at ways to archive and curate content from a group of users en masse. You could do a lot with the content and the data generated from exchanges. However, I anticipate Twitter’s user agreement to place limits on that — Twitter is sitting on that goldmine after all.

Be careful what you may wish for with downloading all of your Tweets. We probably sounded pretty stupid when we started using Twitter.
