Can you buy Twitter followers? FindLaw thinks so
When you have money I suppose you can buy friends and influence.
Last week I noticed Twitter suggesting in the ‘Who to Follow’ section of twitter, the twitter account of FindLaw for Legal Professionals, @FindLawLP.
Twitter’s ‘Who to Folllow’ feature suggests people you don’t currently follow that you may find interesting. The suggestions are based on several factors, including people you follow and the people they follow.
Twitter also allows users to pay to get their account promoted. Promoted Accounts are part of ‘Who to Follow,’ enabling users to get (buy) more followers.
FindLawLP was a listed as a promoted account, placing it at the top of the people Twitter suggested I follow.
Did FindLaw’s paying to get more Twitter followers work? Appears so, based on the increase in FindLaw’s Twitter followers over the last 90 days.
Nothing wrong I suppose in buying your friends. Rodney Dangerfield quipped “As a baby, I was so ugly… that my parents had to tie a pork chop around my neck so the dog would play with me.”
The rest of us poor slobs are just resigned to sharing valuable insight and commentary on Twitter to get our followers.
