LexBlog is interviewing lead software developer candidates
Though we’ve spoken with some talented folks presently being considered for this position, I’d still like to talk to anyone who may be interested in LexBlog’s open lead software developer position.
This position presents an outstanding opportunity for a person looking for more than a job to join a growing and dynamic company to form and lead a development group building web applications and systems serving our clients, our team, and people around the world. You will be part of a driven and highly motivated executive team (CEO, EVP of Client Development, CFO, and Director of Client Services).
Your development team will work with a variety of non-technical groups within LexBlog, providing analysis, guidance and software development. You must be able to understand and analyze complex problems in order to implement robust and maintainable solutions. Excellent communication, leadership and problem solving skills are required for success. A very strong sense of ownership and a desire to get more done with less is critical.
We’re looking for someone who believes in our commitment of 100% client satisfaction, thrives in an entrepreneurial and dynamic environment, has a record of personal and professional achievement, and seeks to do things never done before.
Primary Responsibilities
- Gain a deep understanding of our business and make key recommendations based on that understanding.
- Lead entire development team on significant software projects while mentoring other team members in your group.
- Interact directly with internal business areas such as client development, client services and operations to define and clarify specifications, analyze business processes, and define solutions.
- Provide technical leadership for design and implementation of new features and software system enhancement.
- Develop features and functionality for the LexBlog blog publishing platform, public interfacing blogs and websites as well as other internal and external applications.
- Develop using, for now, Perl, PHP, and Ruby, in conjunction with MySQL. Experience in these areas is beneficial, but not required.
- Systems administration through the use of system administration professionals. LexBlog is running a LAMP stack using both Amazon EC2 and managed hosting.
Qualifications
- Highly motivated self-starter with desire to be a key part of a dynamic, bold, and successful business.
- Five or more years of professional software development; must have track record of working with successful development teams executing on a business strategy.
- Strong analytical, design, development and leadership skills; working in conjunction with others on the executive team, you must be able to define software architecture, software requirements, and lead execution in a cost effective and timely fashion.
- Strong communication skills; you must be able to manage and inspire your development team of engineers, web developers, design, and project management professionals.
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, engineering or equivalent; must show a long-standing desire to do development and engineering work.
