Seeking Director of Information Technology to join my executive team at LexBlog

LexBlogMcKeown, Sorensen, and Garfield. They’re not one of LexBlog’s client law firms, they’re my fellow executive team members at LexBlog. Kevin McKeown, EVP of Client Development, Roy Sorensen, our CFO/Director of Operations, and Pam Garfield, our Director of Client Services.

I’m looking for a new executive team member to join us to head up all things IT: systems architecture, development, and systems administration. We’re looking for a Director of Information Technology, with hands on seasoned management skills to direct all aspects of systems architecture, development, and systems administration and be part of our senior management team, rising to the position of LexBlog’s Chief Technology Officer.

The position reports to the CEO and you’ll be based in our Seattle Pioneer Square offices.

The Opportunity

This position offers the opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a rapidly growing company, and lead the systems development effort to support long-term corporate goals. You will be expected to provide and implement the roadmap for the company’s future systems needs. You will be a key member of the management team and be part of a high performing team.

Job Purpose: Responsible for systems architecture, development, information system operations, stability, and security, and developing improvements to system efficiencies. Key Responsibility Areas

  • Systems architect in developing stable, robust and scalable professional publishing and syndication platforms.
  • Attract, retain, and manage the necessary technical expertise to execute modifications and improvements to all systems and applications.
  • Evaluate system operations, and develop and execute strategies to improve operating efficiency, stability, and security.
  • Evaluate existing applications, and develop and execute strategies to provide client users and LexBlog editor’s effective and robust publishing and syndication solutions.
  • Evaluate existing client service applications and develop and execute strategies, systems and solutions to deliver outstanding client service.
  • Evaluate the product development process, and recommend process improvements.
  • Integrate well into the company team, its culture, and its values.
  • Be an effective and contributing member of the senior management team.

Technical Requirements

  • Three to five years experience managing full-scale systems operations.
  • Experience managing the deployment of large and scalable web applications and websites.
  • Experience with open source server technologies involving varieties of the LAMP stack.
  • Familiar with Amazon EC2 hosting and other top tier hosting environments such as Rackspace.
  • Familiar with PHP, Perl, and Ruby on Rails programming.
  • Familiarity with Movable Type and its application in a multiple blog hosting environment is a plus.
  • Strong communication and client facing skills- particularly strong listening skills.

Salary and the degree of equity participation is dependent on experience. Benefits include full health, dental, and vision insurance, 100% of the premiums being paid by LexBlog.
