Palm Springs estate planning lawyer Daryl Binkley launched his Desert Estate Planning Law Blog yesterday afternoon.

In less than 24 hours, Binkley’s blog was picked up by the Desert Sun in an announcement headlined ‘New Internet blog covers estate planning law.’ The Desert Sun owned by Gannett Publications is the sole local daily newspaper serving Palm Springs and the Coachella Valley of Southern California.

Binkley’s good fortune is a lessen to other lawyers launching blogs. The use of blogs by professional services businesses to share helpful information, insight, and commentary is still a new phenomena. Take advantage of this by sharing word of what you’re doing with the business or other appropriate section of your local newspaper.

Obviously, your blog is going to be picked up by more people online than offline. But Binkley has to be feeling pretty good that news of his blog was just announced in the only daily newspaper serving Palm Springs (population 50,000) and the Coachella Valley, with a population of close to a million people.
