LexBlog U : First monthly ‘Better Blogging Webinar’ draws large audience

May 26, 2008

LexBlog law blog trainingHere’s LexBlog’s Client Services Director, Stacey Merrick and Editorial Manager, Rob La Gatta, all smiles after last Thursday’s first ‘Better Blogging Webinar’ we put on for LexBlog clients.

With about hundred clients attending, Stacey, Rob, and I covered keeping posts simple & clear, effective linking, creating good titles, using tags, and the frequency of posting. Using a panel ‘Larry King Show’ kind of approach the webinar went real well.

We highlighted the bad and the good as well as reviewed blog posts that we thought were particularly good. We even took questions from callers around the country. Okay, they weren’t callers, we took questions by text and answered them as we went along.

For clients not attending we recorded the webinar and accompanying screencast. The Webinars will be stored and linked to from the LexBlog Client Services Center accessed when you log into the LexBlog Publishing Platform.

These webinars were long overdue. Clients like Jerry Kalish of National Benefit Services has been after me for a long time to start client webinars teaching better blogging practices. Stacey Merrick wanted to start what she called a LexBlog University to make certain all LexBlog clients benefitted from what she and her client services team were teaching clients she was dealing with on a regular basis. And Kevin McKeown, LexBlog’s VP of Client Development, is always emphasizing that LexBlog’s leading source of new work so we better make sure our existing clients are raving about their success.

That and me speaking around the country on professional law blogs made it pretty obvious LexBlog needed to do more at home. We needed to share with our clients what we as a group believed to be the best blogging practices.

Going forward LexBlog will be hosting free monthly webinars for LexBlog clients teaching what it takes to be an effective and influential blogger. With the obvious end in mind for each and every client – to further enhance their reputation as a trusted & reliable authority and grow their business.

We’ll begin with the basics like we did with the last program, and move onto what McKeown has labeled intermediate and advanced programs.

If you attended the last program share a comments on what you thought. What did we do well? What could we improve on? And whether you attended or not, what topics would you like to see covered in upcoming webinars.
