Over 50% of businesses look to social media marketing

June 13, 2007

Over 50% of businesses look to social media marketing as an effective marketing tool. Includes both blogs and other social media. This per a recent survey of businesses conducted by Godfrey, a business-to-business branding and communications agency.

From Social Computing Magazine:

Many opportunities exist in the 2.0 world to apply classic communication principles to hot new technologies,’ said Ken Jones, Executive VP of the B2B branding unit at Godfrey. ‘…You need to reach your customers and prospects in ways they want to be reached, and then deliver messages that build your brand and encourage a dialog between marketer and audience. It’s marketing in the truest sense of the discipline,’ he added, ‘and Godfrey’s methodology reflects the practical approach of B2B marketers.’

Talking to Gina Rubel, a communications expert, attorney and publicist, this morning, she said there’s huge opportunities for law firms to market through social media. Not only through blogs but through the effective use of MySpace and FaceBook. Gina acknowledges MySpace and FaceBook may not be appropriate for certain law firms, but that consumer products companies are realizing millions in revenues via marketing campaigns through such social media sites.

Gina’s firm, Furia Rubel, based outside Philly, works with a lot of law firms. It will be interesting to see how those firms prosper through her work with them.
