FeedBurner acquired by Google

June 1, 2007

Google now has offices in the Chicago Loop with its acquisition of Feedburner.

GoogleFeedburner

Congrats to everyone on the FeedBurner team, including fellow lawyer and FeedBurner VP Rick Klau, and Brad Feld at Mobius Venture Capital, a series B investor in the company. Congrats to Google as well for the snatching up the leading RSS feed manager for bloggers.

For those unfamiliar with FeedBurner, it’s a Chicago-based company that provides media distribution and audience engagement services for blogs and RSS feeds. Its Web-based tools help blog publishers promote, deliver, and monetize their content on the Web and make feed-based content more accessible and manageable for its end users.

And from the horse’s mouth as to why Google acquired FeedBurner:

Google believes that feed-based content and advertising is a developing space where we can add value for users, advertisers and publishers. FeedBurner’s technology and talented team are a great addition to Google’s current solutions for advertisers and publishers.

For a turnkey blog solution provider like LexBlog and our clients, Google ain’t bad. Using Google’s backbone for various aspects of your business model, whether it be Google Sitemap, Google Blog Search, or now Google FeedBurner is a wonderful thing.

Thanks to our IT Director Jesse Newland’s insight, LexBlog has been using Feedburner for the management and distribution of our clients’ blog feeds to their target audience for some time.
