Google adds blogs to ‘Alerts’ email service
Google is further integrating blogs into its platform with the addition of blogs to Google’s ‘Alerts’ email service.
A ‘Blogs’ alert provides an email aggregate of the latest blog posts that contain the search terms of your choice that appear in the top ten results of your Google Blog search. Go to the Google Alerts page to set up the email notices. There’s also an accompanying FAQ on the alert service.
For people accustomed to receiving RSS feeds via an aggregator, the aggregator is still the way to go. I don’t need more email and an email list of posts is not as easy to view as a post at a time as in an aggregator. But for the vast majority of folks not using an aggregator, email alerts could be a nice introduction to the blogosphere discussion.
