Law professor drawing national accolades as result of blog
University of Kentucky Law Professor Lori Ringhand is drawing accolades as one of nation’s top constitutional scholars.
But, per an article by Mark Pitsch in this morning’s Louisville Courier-Journal, though Ringhand’s work was highly regarded, it was little known until University of Illinois Law Professor Lawrence Solum’s Legal Theory Blog picked it up. The blog posting led to coverage in the National Review Online, Los Angeles Times, Washington Post and The Associated Press.
All this coverage led to her work being featured in a lengthy editorial by the New York Times on September 11. Since then, “…the 38-year-old professor — who’s been at UK less than five years — has received requests to speak at a conference, seen her work debated around the country, and talked with some of the nation’s top constitutional scholars.” Per Ringhand “It’s opened a lot of doors.”
Of course Ringhand herself is a blogger. She helps run Ratio Juris, a general-interest law blog whose focus is empirical research in the field.
