Blogosphere aboil over NY lawyer ad restrictions
Stephanie Francis Ward of the ABA reports the ‘Blogosphere’s Aboil‘ over New York’s proposed lawyer ad restrictions. Quotes a number of bloggers including Ed Poll, Dennis Kennedy, Pete Boyd, and myself about how ridiculous these proposed rules are.
Blogs are playing a role in either taking down these rules or exposing the New York Court System, which is passing these rules, as either being out of touch or seeking to protect old-line lawyers from losing work to lawyers who market their practice. A combination of blogs and the FTC saying the proposed rules were anti-consumer has already got the Court to extend the comment period on the proposed rules from September 15 to November 15.
By the way, here’s another example of how blogging gets coverage via reporters. I never spoke with Stephanie but she was able to pull quotes from me right off my blog.
