Not okay to steal and repurpose RSS feeds

August 27, 2006

I‘ve run into the same situation as Scoble where clowns take my posts by RSS feed and repurpose them on their blog. By including links in their posts they’re picking up spam generated trackback links to their blog.

When challenged, the clowns say putting a full-text RSS feed out there is akin to giving everyone a license to copy content and use it however they want.

Fact is copyright law does not allow this. Practical problem is chasing the clowns down and then once identifying them, suing them to get them to take the content down. Especially when they’re in Russia.

For the clowns saying it’s just Bloglines. Wrong. Bloglines is an online news aggregator which allows others to read your feeds. Nothing like your theft of my content.
