Trackbacks to blogs being tested by Yahoo News

January 31, 2006

From Steve Rubel, Yahoo is testing trackbacks to blogs.

There’s a Yahoo! News Sandbox site that’s the same as on the live site on which you can use all the new features Yahoo is testing. And for Yahoo’s word on the testing directly go to the Yahoo News blog.

This from Yahoo on the trackbacks testing to blogs.

The second [testing item] is a fully-functional “trackback” feature written by Glen Campbell (no, not that one). Trackback is an automated way for sites to know when blogs are commenting about them and link back out to the blog so the links go both ways. Underneath the text of every story you’ll find the trackback URL and recently received trackbacks. RDF is available in the page for automatic discovery of these trackback URLs as well. Look for: Trackback URL at the bottom of the news story pages.

Blogs are already incorporated into Yahoo in a big way. A search of Yahoo news on their live site already searches blogs in addition to standard news. With these developments you have to be a little crazy not to be thinking of getting your content published on blogs.
