Monitoring the blogosphere : No need to spend huge monies

January 18, 2006

B.L. Ochman comments on Fortune’s article that companies are paying $60,000 for Umbria Market Research’s Buzz Reports, a blogosphere monitoring service>. The article mentions that companies are even paying more to Intelliseek and BuzzMetrics – ‘can easily run into the seven figures.’

No need to spend these types of dollars If law firms and professional services businesses have employees that can use a search engine, then those same employees are capable of monitoring RSS feeds of keywords and key phrases via sites such as IceRocket, NewsGator and Technorati.

Sure large firms can blow monies on services they do not need. They do it everyday. But it’s not neccessary.
