Large law firm blogs replacing email newsletters nets international recognition
Large law firm blogs replacing email newsletters resulted in Tom Baldwin, Chief Knowledge Officer of Sheppard Mullin being named IT Innovator of the Year by The Legal IT Forum. It was great to see Tom up there with other award recipients from firms around the world.
The Legal IT Forum thought blogs replacing email newsletters so innovative that it deserved special recognition.
This award could not be entered directly. Instead, is for available for the judges to look through all of this year’s entries and reward any special projects or initiatives that were deemed to deserve special recognition.
The winner demonstrated a striking piece of lateral thinking by shifting away from standard e-newletters to the world of Blogging. From an original readership of 10,000, the winner’s ‘blogged’ content now receives 600, 000 hits and consistently appears on the first 5 hits for relevant search words in Google and Yahoo. The winner of Legal IT Innovator of the Year is Tom Baldwin, Chief Knowledge Officer at Sheppard Mullin Richter Hampton.
With nine categories in total, The IT Forum awards focuses on innovative approaches to applying technology to the business and application of law – both in terms of streamlining internal processes or in the delivery of core service to the client.
So much for those saying professional marketing blogs are not for large law firms. Sheppard Mullin is a law firm of 430 attorneys with offices located throughout California and in New York and Washington, D.C.
