RSS buttons on your blog: Too many choices?
Law blog pioneer Tom Mighell at Inter Alia suggests rather than displaying on your blog all the different RSS subscribe buttons (My Yahoo!, FeedBurner, etc.) that you put just one button on your blog, MultiRSS. “…A click of the button will take them to a page with listings of the top 38 most-used RSS readers. The reader just selects their particular reader, and the appropriate RSS feed is displayed.”
Sounds good but 38 choices sounds pretty daunting. Heck, I have a hard time with a restaurant menu that offers more than 5 choices.
I’ll talk with the crew, but LexBlog will probably stick with displaying buttons for the major RSS subscribe tools on the front of the blog. Many people do not even know what RSS is though they are using it via MyYahoo, MyMSN and the like. Seeing those buttons let users know they can click and subscribe.
