Blog readers : Where do yours come from?
Darren Rowse at ProBlogger did an interesting survey (understand it’s not scientific) asking his readers ‘Where do most of your Blog’s Readers come from?’ Search engines, though important, bring only about 38% of a blog’s readers. Other blogs, RSS feeds, blog search engines and bookmarks bring just as many.
Lawyers and professional service providers should take from this that getting out into the blogosphere discussion by writing about things other bloggers will write about, commenting on other blogs and producing must have content for their audience is as important as search engine rankings. That’s going to be especially true for the first few months of a blog on a new domain where high search rankings may not be possible because of the Google sandbox effect.
I’d guess blog publishers who answered they have no idea where their readers come from are those blog publishers who either don’t have a Web stats package or follow the stats available to them.
