Newsgator acquires FeedDemon

Per Steve Rubel at Micro Persuasion, NewsGator will announce tomorrow the acquisition of FeedDemon . Steve reports FeedDemon will integrate tightly with the NewsGator Online synchronization platform and come bundled with all of NewsGator’s paid subscription plans. Nick Bradbury, the developer behind FeedDemon, will be joining NewsGator.

NewsGator is an excellent web based aggregator and synchronization tool which folks like me use to monitor internet discussion for key words and key phrases. FeedDemon is the most popular desk top aggregator, by which a user can receive RSS feeds from blogs and other news sources.

“This is a smart move by both companies,” says Rubel, “RSS is growing fast and the smaller players will need to combine to compete with more capitalized players, such as Yahoo, Ask/Bloglines/IAC, Microsoft and others.”
