Justia launches with free web sites for lawyers & law firms

justiapeacelogo.gifLaw firm Web site developer, Justia, launched yesterday offering, among other things, Free Search Engine Web Sites for Lawyers and Law Firms.

For law firms wanting to upgrade, there are Justia Custom Web Sites for Law Firms. Justia’s introductory prices are incredibly low for law firm Web sites with custom design, search engine optimization, 24/7 online updating and practice area content.

Silicon Valley based Justia is led by former CEO and FindLaw co-founder Tim Stanley. Tim’s working among a team of computer scientists, lawyers, librarians and marketing professionals. So expect a combination of the highest quality, latest technology and best prices.

Free Web sites for lawyers & law firms?

I give Justia a ton of credit for offering free search engine optimized Web sites lawyers and law firms. Justia is doing this as one of their public interest and pro bono projects. I believe FindLaw did the same thing when they began in the mid ’90’s and in a short time had thousands of lawyer Web sites. Now owned by Thomson’s West Group I am not sure if FindLaw offers free sites to law firms any longer.

Justia’s free sites, still in beta version but fully operational, are nothing to sneeze at. Go to the aptly named domain “freedom.justia.com, “register, log-in and try them out. Justia’s free sites include:

  • Template Web Design
  • Search engine optimized pages
  • Firm Home Page
  • Firm Profile Page
  • Firm Location Page
  • Practice Area
  • Profiles
  • Attorney Profiles
  • Web Resources Page
  • Legal Articles Section
  • W3C Web standards design & layout
  • Meeting U.S. 508 and W3C’s Web Accessibility Guidelines

Heck, Justia’s free sites look nicer and offer more, especially being optimized, than the Web sites being sold by the large legal publishers.

Low cost high quality law firm Web sites

Until now, law firms have been charged tens of thousands of dollars for custom designed Web sites with database driven content management tools. Looks like Justia understands using the latest technology means substantially lower development, design and maintenance costs. They went out and harnessed the latest technology and are passing these cost savings on to law firms.

Law firms with up to 3 lawyers get a great site for a set up fee of $199 + $80 per attorney plus $119 per month. For a couple lawyers the cost for a year is less than $1,700. For a law firm with more than 3 lawyers Justia charges a set up fee of $399 + $80 per attorney and $199 per month. For a firm with 10 lawyers, the cost is less than $3,600. With all the features, optimization, listing and sponsored links work Justia offers my guess is that would have cost at least $15,000 to $20,000 until now.

Justia custom Web sites include:

  • Custom Web Site Design
  • Search Engine Optimized
  • Unlimited Attorneys
  • Multiple Practice Areas
  • Multiple Office Locations
  • SEO Domain Name
  • 10,000 pages of Web space
  • W3C Standards Compliant
  • W3C, US 508 Accessible
  • Access to Content Solutions
  • 24/7 Online Updating
  • Enhanced Traffic Reports
  • Search Engine and Directory Submissions
  • Search Engine Marketing on Google & Overture

If Justia’s long term prices stay anywhere close to their introductory pricing, it’s going to be a heck of an offering to law firms.
