New Web domain for lawyers launches
June 1, 2004
Doctors, lawyers, and accountants began registering today for a new Web domain which supposedly offers security and confidentiality for themselves and their clients.
The first new Internet domain authorized since 2002, .Pro, requires licensed MDs, lawyers, CPAs and others to submit proof of their credentials. Professionals can register under .law.pro, .med.pro, or .cpa.pro. The domain utilizes digital certificates for authenticating e-mail and Web-based transactions, according to RegistryPro, which operates the domain. Registrations are available only in the United States.
