Today in legal history we have the impeachment of President Richard Nixon, in a 27-11 vote by the House Judiciary Committee they recommended Nixon’s term come to end early, and it did when he resigned on August 9th, 1974. A lesser known event on this date was when congress passed the “Federal Cigarette Labeling and Advertising Act” which forced tobacco companies to put a health warning on all cigarette containers.
