Patent Trolls, Securities, Construction and More: Seven New Blogs Joining the LexBlog Network

November 1, 2013

It was a big week for the LexBlog Network as we bring seven new publications into the fold. I say it every single time it happens, but it’s the truth: it’s great when an AmLaw 100 firm joins our ranks, and this week we have one joining us with two new blogs. Good stuff.

  • There’s been much talk across the LexBlog Network recently—within the past few weeks especially—on the subject of patent trolls. And while we have a number of IP blogs, it’s cool to see one focused exclusively on patent trolls, as it comes in the form of Troll Defense from Seattle attorney Benjamin Justus of Lybeck Murphy. While the primary focus is on patent trolls, Justus (what a great name for an attorney) will examine other civil liability issues with internet activity.
  • After how much I’ve enjoyed Chadbourne & Parke‘s TMT Perspectives, I’m excited to see what they do with Zone of Insolvency. While bankruptcy law not get the same level of attention as tech and media (especially now), the AmLaw 200 firm is off to a strong start with the blog as recent posts include an interesting look at a big Supreme Court case and once-famous rapper DMX.
  • It’s nice working with the biggest and best firms, because you know when they’re writing—they’re writing to the heavy-hitters. Such is the case with Husch Blackwell and their Securities Law Insider as the firm works with New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq Stock Market listed companies in structuring, negotiating, documenting and closing a wide variety of corporate finance transactions. Look for the firm to bring that highly sought-after expertise into the public eye here.
  • The Professional Liability Blog is one of two liability-related blogs to launch from Wilson Elser this week—as when they join the LexBlog Network, they put two feet right in. The AmLaw 100 firm boasts 800 attorneys in offices spread throughout the country and while we don’t expect them all to contribute here (because that’d be crazy), they do bring a deep bench of lawyers into the fold. So far, the subject is broad—but interesting—as they’ve covered social media, accounting fraud, video surveillance in nursing homes and business risk.
  • And for the second publication from Wilson Elser, we have the Product Liability Blog. Like with the professional liability blog, this publications broadly under the umbrella of product liability. And, while some will say “niche or go home,” this can work well—as Wilson Elser will seize the opportunity to pluck interesting stories from a number of realms, and that will include everything from aircraft to pharmaceuticals to sporting goods to technology.
  • Coming from a firm that’s certainly seen some success from blogging, we have Farrell Fritz‘s New York Construction Law. This, the firm’s seventh blog on the LexBlog Network will be authored by a team of six attorneys who look to cover a range of topics that include architects and engineers, labor law in construction and construction contracts.
  • And then last, but certainly not least, we have yet another blog from one of the world’s pre-eminent law firms: GTM Law Blog from Greenberg Traurig Maher. Greenberg Traurig Maher is the London counterpart to the stateside Greenberg Traurig, as the firm prides itself on being “a different kind of law firm”  with a spirit of innovation. Look for this blog to cover all things legal in the United Kingdom.
