Typepad improving slowly, but steadily

Shel Israel, a social media consultant and co-author, with Robert Scoble, of ‘Naked Conversations,’ reports Six Apart’s web based blog software platform, TypePad, is making some slow, but steady improvements.

Shel had voiced problems last December that were making him consider moving off TypePad. Michael Sippey, VP of Products for Six Apart, contacted Shel, took him to lunch, acknowledged problems, but let him know that improvements would be made.

And:

Very slowly, very steadily Tyepad has been improving, with new and better templates, with better spam filtering, making it easy to take down offensive comments.

Today, with very little fanfare, they came up with a new and improved comment management system. Now, I can read an entire comment inside my email client, rather than having to log in, then register then comment. They took three asinine steps and turned it in to one simple step. Very cool.

In my opinion, they deserve recognition because they still have some distance to go before I give them anything like a blogging ovation. I think Sippey deserves credit because he is doing what he said he would do in about the way he said he would.

TypePad, with a few problems here and there, is a good product. For professionals looking to have a blog and who are willing to forgo custom design and to learn the ins and outs of blogging on their own, it can be a good fit. For others looking to learn what RSS is, how to use it, how to use newsfeeds, and how to enter into the ongoing discussion on the net so as to enhance their reputation, they’re going to need something more than TypePad alone.

ROI is the key to blogging for professionals. Saving money is not the answer. The answer is leveraging your time blogging so you achieve success in enhancing your reputation as a leader in your niche. That’s how you grow your business.
