Colin O’Keefe back at LexBlog

I’m Colin O’Keefe and yes, I am Kevin’s son. I’m in my third year working full-time (Summers/Holidays) or part-time (school year) here at LexBlog. I’m starting my senior year, and last semester, at the University of Montana School of Journalism.

It’s a weird time to be studying journalism. I feel like I’m working towards a degree in biology and Darwin just dropped his The Origin of Species in about the middle of my sophomore year. Some media experts believe that in the not-so-distant-future people will read newspapers as much as they listen to audiocassettes while certain members of the journalism profession stick to traditional print practices like religious fundamentalists.

This change in the way people receive their news – law and otherwise – is what I will be writing about in future entries on this blog. Besides studying old-fashioned print journalism, I also have experience working on a blog. For a little over a year, I’ve published a University of Montana Grizzlies sports blog that goes by the absurd title of The Grizzoulian.

I’ve had some fun doing that – and will continue to do so in the future – but in the meantime I am excited to contribute what I can to LexBlog. Besides writing on this blog, my work includes serving as one of the editors of LexBlog’s LexMonitor, a daily review of law blogs and journals.

We’re in a time where anyone who wants to be a journalist, can be. I look forward to offering up my opinions while helping others get theirs out there.
