Blogs aren’t books

Liz Strauss reminds us that blogs aren’t books, that is not everyone starts reading your blog on page one.

  • Every page of a blog offers an open door and a place for readers land.
  • Search engines and bookmarks send traffic to pages deep into the archives.

Liz advises when viewing your web stats that you note the pages where visitors arrive. And to make sure that those pages provide a favorable impression of your blog and business.

I’ll add that all pages on your blog must provide an easy and clear navigation to two types of content. One, blogged content broken down by category, not date. Two, promotional copy describing who you are, what you do, what services you offer, and how to contact you.

Good points all, Kevin. The easier that we make things for our readers, the easier we make things for ourselves too. :)
