Those following the Internet marketing news over the last few weeks heard about Yahoo's impending move from the Google search engine. It was presumed by most that Yahoo would begin to use Inktomi's search engine. A few days ago Yahoo did make the switch. Yahoo is saying that the search engine is their own but from what I have been reading the search engine is a hybrid of the Inktomi search engine.

Yellow pages pay per click targets lawyers

On March the 1st SuperPages, Verizon's Internet Yellow Pages website, will launch a redesigned website which includes pay per click advertising that will of course target the lawyer. Better yet they will have lawyers bid against each other to see who is willing to be the greater fool. Funny though that their offline sales force does not like the idea that lawyers can opt out when things do not turn out as planned – the yellow page sales force, who I hold in the highest regard, want to hold lawyers to the annual contract so they can grab their higher commission. Read more to see what's coming and what you are going to be hearing from the yellow page folks.

RSS and Blogs > Lawyers should heed buzz

In another report coming from DEMO 2004, a leading tech show & conference, tech industry leaders are raving about the business application of a blog and the syndication of content via RSS that flows from a blog. Lawyers are skeptics by nature and could say, based on the dotcom bust, that blogs are just another fad. But the fact is that in 1996 when the technology community was a buzz about the use of Web sites for marketing many a good lawyer did not know what the heck a Web site was and certainly saw no need to have one. Six years later 96% of law firms had Web sites. Read on to see what Internetnews.com is reporting about blogs being the buzz today and the discussion that took place.

New Orleans DA cashing in on Internet advertising

Will lawyers be advertising their services on the local DA's Web site? Could Happen. The New Orleans Times-Picayunereports in what appears to be a first-of-its-kind business arrangement with a local government agency, three individuals with close ties to Orleans Parish District Attorney Eddie Jordan have set up an Internet Web site that will share profits from advertising with the prosecutor's office. Of course, money is the driving force here. Ads on the site will sell for $1,000 to $5,000 per year, according to Jordan spokeswoman Melanie Roussell. Lawyers can place listings on the site for $100 per month or $1,000 annually. The company doing the Web site projects $400,000 in annual profits for Jordan's office.

Submit law blog to blog search engines

When doing cyber-publicity for your blog you want to get links to your blog for two reasons. One is rather obvious, well placed links will cause people to 'click to' your blog when looking for information you offer on your blog. The other reason is that your blog will be ranked higher in search engine results at Google the more links to your blog there are. The reason being that Google wants to be a valuable research tool – they want folks to find the good stuff. It’s a sign that people have found the information on your blog of value when there are more links to your blog – people have linked to your blog because it is good.
One way to get more links is to be proactive by submitting your blog to blog search engines. Here's a list of blog search engines for you.
