$12 million in additional funding for Six Apart?

Om Malik, a senior writer at Business 2.0 magazine, blogs it's rumored Six Apart has raised another $12 in venture capital. Six Apart is the the start-up behind TypePad, MovableType and Live Journal.

Om hears that the pre-money valuation on the deal has climbed from $80 to $100 million because of investor's competing to participate. No doubt a confirmation of the financial community's belief in blogs. Note Om is still waiting to confirm all of this with Six Apart.

Six Apart is a good company. They've had a few glitches with server demands with TypePad but those will be corrected with this new money. In addition, Om's heard they have an enterprise system coming out this year which would get Movable Type or TypePad into corporations as a way to use blog software as an effective intranet communication tool.

LexBlog's staked is reputation on Movable Type, which we've modified and host for our clients. We've found it a good platform and Six Apart to be a good partner to work with.
