Blawgs? Fatwa declared against name for lawyer blogs

Leading web developer Airbag Industries, says “If you must declare a fatwa so be it, just stop targeting humans and point your weapons of mass destruction towards,” among other things, “Alternative Names For A Type Of Blog, It's Still Just A Blog.”

Gee, I think that's directed at folks like lawyers who like their blogs to be called 'blawgs' and not blogs, the word the rest of the world goes by.

Blawgs, Tumblelogs, Doodleblogs, Photoblogs, they're all just blogs.
Trying to be cute by calling a blog something other than a blog is just a cry for attention and it creates a bit of confusion for the user.

You are, once again, 100% right on this issue. Greg is right as well. Not only is it a cry for help, but it is a potential put off to clients. Clients need to feel a connection and using “blawg” is one more way that attorneys are trying to get further away from their clients. This is especially true in a blog designed for marketing your practice – you need to relate to potential clients who are reading it – not alienate them.
