Do shorter posts = better posts? Add your comment

Steve Rubel asked whether shorter blog posts make for better blog posts and now Darren Rowse has followed with the same question.

Leave your comments and let me know. Would you rather have fewer posts with more depth or frequent short posts with high value information? As Steve says “It's hard to combine them (and maintain a life).”

I don't think there's a right or wrong way to blog. My goal is to do my best to keep my ear to the ground and share what I think is helpful information others are writing about.

It's been about 20 years since I've had an original thought so this style has served me and I hope you well. At the same time, you've probably seen my Irish ire when someone gets me going.

Interesting post. I believe that there is a very big difference between short and long postings inasmuch as short postings address the issue of “resource discovery” while longer postings actually add content to the Web. One is a “leaf” in the information tree while the other is a “vertex”.
My bias is for fewer, longer posits that talk about why the author (or bogged is leading UT to the story and what they think about the topic rather than w/ another “connector” or “resource discovery” booger.
I've written about this at length too, on my own blog:
